Quick answers to the questions we hear most. Each one links to the chapter that covers the full story.

What happens after the 30-day trial?

The Starter Edition activates automatically — no action required. You keep full access to all Starter features indefinitely, for free. Pro features are locked until you purchase a licence (see 7. Administration → Licence). Streaming tracks left in your queue no longer play, and the queue shows them with a padlock; the music on the box plays on. The table in 1. Introduction → Editions lists what each edition includes.

Does it work without Roon?

Yes. MPD alone is enough for the Starter Edition. Roon, HQPlayer, upmpdcli, Shairport-Sync and AirPlay are all optional — install whichever you want in one click from the Audio Software tab, and Audiogravity manages them from there (configuration, tuning, orchestration). Using them from Audiogravity — Roon as a source, HQPlayer as the output, and their settings — comes with Pro, and so does the tuning. See 3. First run.

Do I need a Qobuz, Tidal or HIGHRESAUDIO subscription?

Only if you want to use those services, and everything else works without any third-party subscription.

To listen to them in full, yes: each needs its own active subscription, and the streaming services come with Pro. Browsing is another matter — Qobuz and Tidal let a lapsed account sign in and browse the whole catalogue, and play thirty seconds of each track; HIGHRESAUDIO refuses the catalogue but still plays what you bought from it. The sources card names the state in each case, so short tracks are never a mystery. See 5. Library & streaming.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Audio playback runs entirely on your local network — no cloud, no telemetry. Your licence keeps working offline too: whether Pro is unlocked is decided on the box, from the signature of your licence file, so a box that never reaches the internet again keeps every feature it had. What does need the internet: activating a licence in the first place, the daily check-in that carries announcements and update offers, and streaming from Qobuz, Tidal or HIGHRESAUDIO.

Can I use one licence on multiple machines?

No. A Pro licence is bound to one installation. If you move to a new machine, a licence reset is available on request — contact us at support@audiogravity.app.

Are updates included?

Yes, on every edition: the trial, Starter and Pro all receive the updates of their major version (v1.x). Pro holders receive a preferential upgrade price for future major versions.

How do I install Audiogravity on my phone?

Audiogravity is a Progressive Web App — it installs from the browser, no app store needed. First, trust the box's certificate on the phone (3. First run → 7). Then, on an iPhone: in Safari, open your Audiogravity address, tap ⋯ → Share → Add to Home Screen, turn on Open as Web App and tap Add — on an iPad, Share → View More → Add to Home Screen. On Android: in Chrome, tap Install on the bar the app shows, or ⋮ → Install and create shortcut → Install. It then runs fullscreen with its own icon, just like a native app — and on iOS (16.4 or later) the installed app is what receives push notifications. Step by step: 3. First run.

How do I connect Qobuz, Tidal or HIGHRESAUDIO?

With Pro, all three connect from Library → Sources: open the service's card and tap Connect. Qobuz signs in and redirects back automatically. Tidal lands on a fixed URL that a web app can't intercept — copy that full URL from the address bar, paste it back into the Tidal card and tap Finish login, once. HIGHRESAUDIO is simpler: enter your account email and password directly in its card. Tokens are then stored and refreshed for you. The full walkthroughs are in 5. Library & streaming.

Where is the documentation?

A fully illustrated manual covers the whole journey — from installation to troubleshooting — with a one-page quick start and a glossary. It is readable inside the app (the Manual tab — the manual of the version your box runs, even without internet access) and online, where the latest edition is published.

How do I update Audiogravity?

From the interface. When a new release is available, the Admin tab shows an update banner — one click and your admin password, and the box downloads, installs and health-checks the new version with live progress. If anything goes wrong it automatically rolls back to the previous version. No terminal, no re-running the installer. See 8. Updating.
